3 ways to strengthen your intuition as a mom

Sacred feminine & cycles

Have you ever felt that quiet inner nudge when something just doesn't feel right—even if everyone around you says it’s fine? Or had a gut feeling about what your child needed, only to second-guess yourself after a scroll through parenting advice online?

You're not alone.

Modern motherhood is louder than ever. We're surrounded by endless expert opinions, Instagram-perfect routines, and unsolicited advice from strangers and loved ones alike. While information can be empowering, it can also drown out the quiet voice of your own inner knowing—your maternal intuition.

In my Intuitive Mother 5-week course, I help moms reconnect with this ancient, powerful voice within. Today, I want to offer a preview by sharing three simple but powerful ways to begin strengthening your intuition right now, even amidst the noise.

1. Create space for quiet

Intuition rarely shouts. It whispers.

If your day is wall-to-wall noise—podcasts in the car, notifications on your phone, earbuds in while multi-tasking, endless to-do lists—there’s no room to hear yourself think, let alone feel. That’s why creating intentional pockets of quiet is essential.

Try this: Set a timer for 3 minutes and turn all noise off. Sit, stand, or walk slowly. Breathe.

Place one hand on your heart and one on your womb space.

Ask: What do I need to know today? Then listen. You might not “hear” an answer right away—but over time, you will tune into your inner voice or notice the message your body sends, and that wisdom will rise.

Bonus tip: The best times for this are first thing in the morning, after a shower, or before sleep—when you're already in a more intuitive, receptive state.

2. Notice the body, not just the brain

Most of us were taught to think our way through problems. But intuition often lives below the neck.

Your body is constantly giving you information. A tight chest, a queasy stomach, or a sense of calm when considering a choice—these are all signs. The trick is learning to notice and trust them.

Try this: Next time you're faced with a decision (big or small—like what to feed your child, or whether to schedule that appointment), pause and check in with your body.

Ask: What happens in my body when I imagine this choice? Does your breath get shallow? Do you feel relief? Does your energy drop?

Your intuition speaks the language of sensation.

3. Detox from "expert overload"

While it can be helpful to research and learn from others, constantly outsourcing your confidence to “experts” can weaken your intuitive muscle.

You were given your child for a reason. Your inner knowing is the most accurate compass for your family, even if it doesn’t always match the parenting trend of the week.

Try this: Take a 24-hour break from parenting content (no blogs, no parenting accounts, no Googling symptoms.) During that time, notice how often you have the urge to "check" or "validate" your choices. Can you ride that urge and stay with your own wisdom instead?

Detoxing from input helps you return to yourself as the expert.

4. BONUS: invite moments of silence

Like I shared earlier - we are able to connect with so many resources and inspirational people in our modern world. There has never been a time on our planet with this much access to scientific research and ancient traditions - no matter where you are living.

My invitation is to welcome more moments of allowing the sounds of your environment to occur. Whether natural or man-made (like construction or lawns being mowed) to simply happen without the need to cover them up with music, podcasts, or distraction.

It's important to allow your thoughts spaciousness to come and go. To notice, acknowledge, and then decide if they're worth paying attention to - or allow them to pass by.

Try this: Drive your care with nothing coming out of the speakers. If that doesn't seem doable, maybe consider being in your home without the TV or other playlists on while you prepare a meal, fold laundry, and maintain your home. Are you able to be with yourself, comfortably, in this way?

The path back to yourself

Motherhood in today’s world often pulls us outward—toward productivity, performance, and perfection. But true guidance lives inward. Reclaiming your intuitive power isn’t about doing more—it’s about trusting more.

If these tips resonate, they’re just the beginning.
